Sa\u0161a Bezjak was born in 1971 in Maribor. She graduated from the Faculty of Education in Maribor in 1999, obtaining a degree in fine arts education under the mentorship of the sculpture professor Darko Golija. In 2001, she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, acquiring a degree in painting under the mentorship of professors Metka Kra\u0161ovec and Dr Nadja Zgonik. She also completed her master's degree in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana under the mentorship of the professor Lujo Vodopivec. She has been self-employed in the field of culture since 2002. In 2013, she was awarded the title of an expert assistant in special didactics by the University of Maribor. For two decades, she has been running fine arts workshops for youth and adults, assisting them as a teacher and mentor, set mainly in the rural environments of Styria (\u0160tajerska), Prlekija and Prekmurje. Since 2013, she has been deeply engaged in the activities at the Museum of Madness in Trate, helping those who are often deprived of the experience of artistic creativity due to prejudice and negative stereotypes linked to people with disabilities. The original and provocative Sa\u0161a Bezjak, who is predominantly devoted to drawing, also expresses her creativity through painting, sculpture, embroidery and performance art. Her works have been presented at numerous group and solo exhibitions in Slovenia and abroad. Her works can be found in many Slovenian collections (Maribor Art Gallery; Pomurje Academic Centre (PAC), Murska Sobota; Carinthia Gallery of Fine Arts, Slovenj Gradec; KIBLA Multimedia Centre, Maribor; Murska Sobota Gallery) and collections abroad (Imago Mundi Luciano Benetton Collection, Italy; Fondazione Pasqualle Batista, Italy).<\/span><\/p>


In 2020, she received a working scholarship from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, and the symposium projects Madness and Creativity? (2015) and Open Studio (2017) are also worth highlighting. In 2014, the Dr. Anton Trstenjak Foundation supported the publication of her monograph entitled Sa\u0161a Bezjak, Works. In 2016, her work Sa\u0161a Bezjak's Artistic Actions was published in the TOX collection of the KIBLA multimedia center. In 2021, she again received support from the Dr. Anton Trstenjak Foundation and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia and the Municipality of Gornja Radgona, which enabled her to publish a monograph entitled Risbe\/Drawings by the Primo\u017e Premzl Art Cabinet publishing house. In 2023, she also received the Open Studio project from the Ministry of Culture.<\/span><\/p>


Since 2020, she has been partly employed at the People's University Ptuj. In 2021, she obtained the title of assistant professor for the subject area of fine arts at the University of Maribor. As an external collaborator, she worked for many years at the Department of Preschool Education at the Faculty of Education in Maribor. In 2025, she lived in the residence apartment of the Ministry of Culture in Vienna and there she researched art, culture and the art market, as well as the field of Art Brut.<\/span><\/p>
